Intermittent fasting isn’t a new diet fad, it’s a simple pattern of eating that doesn’t require you to make excessive changes to your diet. You are basically restricting eating to an 8-hour period, and fasting for a 16-hour period. You can continue with what you eat, but you are only eating at certain times of the day.
My First 30-days of Intermittent Fasting
I was encouraged by my hubby and a good friend 30 days ago to give intermittent fasting a try. I have become more active and I wanted to drop some weight so I can do more without being so tired. Also, a sistah is getting older and it’s time to take care of myself and redefine my relationship with food and certain sugary drinks.
Benefits of Intermittent Fasting
The benefits of intermittent fasting is immediately noticing your weight loss within a few weeks after starting your eating pattern. Sometimes when we start a new health plan, we are not as encouraged to continue when there is slow progress. Furthermore, this way of eating is healthy because you are putting your eating in a certain time frame, and you’re not eating all day. There are also cosmetic benefits as your water intake increases, your skin will start having a glow and your nails will grow healthier.
My plan includes me start eating at 12pm and I stop at 8pm. During any other time, I am fasting and restricting my food intake. During the fasting period, I drink coffee with only two Splendas, tea, and water. After a few weeks of limiting yourself, you will lose all taste for sweet drinks such as sodas and juices. You are gonna desire a lot more water throughout the day.
Tips and Tricks to Enhance Your Results
Along with intermittent fasting, there are other tips and tricks that may assist you with your goals. I have started making a drink including Apple Cider Vinegar, water, lemon juice, Cayenne Pepper and Turmeric at night. Unfortunately, night snacking has always been a problem for me. I also have substituted regular water for carbonate water when I want something different. Carbonated water with your meals and at night helps with feeling full.
Limitations to Intermittent Fasting
There are some limitations to your intermittent fasting. I have learned the hard way that if you are participating in a physical activity during your fasting time, you may want to adjust your eating window for that day. Recently, I went to my weekly Samba class and I didn’t eat because I was adamant about sticking to my fasting schedule. Well, I dry heaved twice during the two hour class and I felt faint. You have to make sure that your lifestyle fits intermittent fasting. You can’t participate in physical activities without eating or you will become sick. Also, those who have blood sugar problems, this may not be for you. It’s always important to consult your doctor before starting a new eating regimen.
30-Day Update Forthcoming
Since I have only tried the intermittent fasting for 30-days, I will return in another thirty days to report my progress. In the first 30-days, I have lost 15 pounds and I feel so good. We will see if I can keep making progress.

Adult coloring books has been a trend since 2012, but it has reached astounding heights of popularity in the emotional wellness realm. Being the mindfulness adventurer that I am, I decided to place a temporary hold on traditional meditation, and take part in some good old fashion coloring.
