The unrealistic beauty standards of our society causes normal women to feel less beautiful, and less worthy of being happy. Young women and girls are exposed to media campaigns and beauty magazines that display these perfect women draped in expensive clothes and dawned with pounds of makeup. This is just the reality of our society. But today, an internet troll decided that she would try to shame me and other curvy women because we may not fit the unrealistic beauty image of society. As an adventurer of emotional and physical wellness, I often find that there are so many unconventional tools that aren’t utilized to decrease ongoing anxiety. The most used tools are exercise or meditation; however, there is another ground-breaking option that you can add to your mindfulness tool belt. Adult coloring books has been a trend since 2012, but it has reached astounding heights of popularity in the emotional wellness realm. Being the mindfulness adventurer that I am, I decided to place a temporary hold on traditional meditation, and take part in some good old fashion coloring.
A toxic work environment can take an emotional tole on your emotional well-being. Why? Because you have to see these damn people more than you see your own family. Weekly self-reflection benefits our emotional well-being and prevents life regrets. I find that without weekly self-reflection, I get a little lost, and I lose site of my goals and values.
