There are certain activities that could be utilized to decrease the likelihood of health complications related to chronic stress.
This may seem easy, but from personal experience in the field of social work, prioritizing can be difficult as fck. You look at everything on your plate and try to get everything done all at once. However, you’re only one person and all that pressure could cause stress. Determining what is most important can be solved with a simple To Do list.
Meet Important Deadlines. It is important to determine what has a time sensitive deadline first. If you have any business, such as paying bills or delivering items that affect your livelihood, you definitely make that a priority.
Priorities and Safety. Instead of trying to get everything done like a superhero, determine your time sensitive deadlines and your safety. Today, I made it a priority to get my tire fixed because I refuse to be azzed out on the side of the road with two screaming children. Most importantly, it is unsafe to be helpless and unable to protect those you love.
Sometimes all it takes to defeat stress is to walk out of your home and take a stroll with the sunlight warming your face. Distraction from stress is key. There are biological implications regarding relieving stress naturally. According to scientists, exercise releases endorphins that improves mood and reduces stress. My favorite exercise is dance fitness and Zumba. It’s something I love to do and it provokes happiness.
Work Out At Home. There are many fitness gurus who will advise you to workout at least once hour three days a week, but more reasonable professionals advise working out at least 15 minutes a day. If you are too busy to get to the gym before or after work, make your home your own work-out haven. I’ve gotten on my floor every night to do at least 200 hundred crunches, and I use my weights for arm works. I repeat the routine in the morning. There are also hundreds of fitness apps on your phone that can help with staying fit from the confines of your home. You can also search for free classes on YouTube.
3. Try Relaxation Activities
Many curvy girls that I’ve spoken to attest to yoga and meditating as a form of reducing stress. I’ve personally tried yoga once or twice, and I must say that stretching and slow movements are very relaxing. Focusing on your body movements instead of whether you will meet a deadline is one of the best remedies for stress.
Meditation is also a stress reducing activity that calms the mind and allows you to center yourself. I have started to meditate before embarking on my day to ensure that I get my priorities straight. Meditation may seem easy, but it requires practice and consistency. According to psychologists, mediation improves neural pathways and a resilience to stress.
Take A Breath and focus on yourself for at least ten minutes out of your day. We take for granted the natural remedies of stress and anxiety. When you feel the stress piling on, step away from whatever you’re doing, got to a quiet place and breath. Take deep breaths by inhaling through your nose, and blowing the air from your mouth. This is a very calming exercise that will at least get your through stressful feelings until you are able to consult with a professional (if needed).
4. Hang Out With Loved Ones
Whenever I’m stressed out, having lunch or laying by the beach with friends or family works wonders. I love chatting it up and often talking out my problems with those who won’t judge me. You may even get some great advice about the stressor invading your life.
Researchers have hypothesized that people who have experienced a traumatic event are more likely to decrease their trauma when they participate in positive socialization. The stress hormone, Cortisol, are significantly lower when you wrap yourself with the love and support of your closes friends and families. Increase positive social contact and you will feel a lot better than before.
5. Have A Glass of Red Wine
This isn’t a long term fix for any stressful situation, but at least it will take the edge off. There are professionals and stay-at-home parents who end their day with a beer or large glass of red wine because of the stress they experienced that day, and the stress they will endure the next day. Alcohol relaxes the body and clouds the brain, which temporarily prevents stressors from taking over. But it’s definitely not a cure and should not be abused to solve your problems.
Life seems to be a big azz ball of stress just fcking with us over and over again. It’s important that we don’t allow stress to control our lives. If stress becomes too overwhelming, please seek professional advice.
